Alpacas are our passion and have greatly enriched our lives since we entered the industry in 1996. There is the obvious enjoyment of living with a herd of individual 'personalities' and watching crias play and grow to maturity.

We also enjoy the intellectual challenges associated with breeding alpacas. There is still so much that we as an industry have to learn about alpacas and their breeding. Just a few of the puzzles we are currently working on are:

• how to eliminate medulated fibres
• matching sires and dams
• developing alternative pathways to desired fleece characteristics
• how do we best use ET technology to progress genetic improvement

We are happy to work with experienced alpaca breeders (large and small) and new breeders in the industry to progess towards a common goal of achieving the, as yet, untapped potential of alpaca in Australia.
